Google Calendar and Google Sheets

Add your lesson times to Google Calendar, and export a class's students and attendance to Google Sheets, without linking your account.

Hessety works with Google Calendar and Google Sheets without linking your Google account to your Hessety account, and without us accessing your calendar or your files.

All your lessons in Google Calendar

You get your own calendar link with the times of all your classes. Google Calendar subscribes to it once, and from then on it updates on its own: if you change a class's time or create a new class, it shows up in your calendar a little later (Google refreshes these calendars every few hours). You also get a reminder 10 minutes before each lesson.

  • On the website: open Account, and on the Google Calendar card at the side click "Add all your lessons to Google Calendar", then "Add" on Google's page.
  • In the app (Windows and Android): in the Account tab, in the Google Calendar section, tap "Add all your lessons to Google Calendar".

iPhone or Outlook calendar

Click "Copy calendar link", then in your calendar choose "Add calendar from URL" (Subscribe / From URL) and paste the link.

Anyone with the link can see your class times. If you sent it to someone by mistake, click "Change link": the old link stops working and any calendar subscribed to it stops updating, so subscribe again with the new link.

One class's lesson in Google Calendar

If you only want one class, without subscribing:

  • On the website: on the class's card open Lesson times and click "Add to Google Calendar". Google Calendar opens with the lesson ready: its name, time and length, repeating every week on the class's days. Click "Save".
  • In the app (Windows and Android): open the class from My classes and tap "Add to Google Calendar".

This event doesn't update on its own: if you change the class's time, add it again and delete the old one from your calendar. The class needs a set time first.

Your students too

A student who opens their link before the lesson sees "Add to Google Calendar", and the lesson is added to their calendar with their own link in it, so they can join straight from it at lesson time. There is also "Add to your calendar" for any other calendar.

A class's students and attendance in Google Sheets

A spreadsheet with two sheets:

  • Students: name, phone, lesson link, lessons attended and minutes attended.
  • Attendance: a row for each student in each lesson: date, time, lesson length, present or absent, minutes attended and how late they were.

How:

  1. On the website: on the class's card open Attendance and click "Export to Google Sheets". In the app (Windows and Android): open the class and tap "Export to Google Sheets"; the page opens in the browser, already signed in.
  2. Click "Export to Google Sheets" and choose your Google account.
  3. Allow Hessety to create a file in your Google Drive. The file opens on its own.

The file is saved in your own Google Drive, and only you can share it. Hessety only gets access to the files it creates, and can't see your other files. Each export makes a new file with the latest data.

Without Google

On the same page click "Download a CSV file": one file with the students and attendance. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
