As soon as you open Hessety, everything you need today is right in front of you. This tour shows you every part in 3 minutes, so you can find anything without hunting for it.

In the app: four tabs

At the bottom of the screen on a phone, or down the side on Windows, you'll find four tabs:

  • Home: your next lesson, who's waiting for you, today's lessons and attendance.
  • My classes: all your classes. Tap a class to open its page.
  • Messages: your messages with your students and with the Hessety team. The number on it is how many new messages you have.
  • Account: your subscription, Your details (your name, phone and password), notifications, appearance, language, Google Calendar and the help center.

At the top of every tab there's the bell: your notifications, like payment confirmations and lesson reminders.

Home, from top to bottom

Home in the app
Your next lesson at the top, and what needs your attention below it
  1. The greeting: "Good morning" or "Good evening" with your name, today's date, and how many lessons you have today.
  2. The big colored card: the most important thing on the screen.
    • Your next lesson: the class name, when it is, how many students it has, and a ring counting down to the lesson. The "Let's start" button starts the lesson right away, and tapping the class name opens its page.
    • Your lesson is live: when a lesson is running. It tells you who's there and how long it's been going, with a "Back to lesson" button.
    • Ready for your lesson?: when your classes have no schedule. "Let's start" here starts a lesson for your first class.
  3. Three numbers: how many classes you have, how many students, and your lesson time this week.
  4. Needs your attention, which only shows when there's something to see:
    • Waiting: students who opened their links early and are waiting for you. Tap it to start their lesson.
    • New messages: who they're from. Tapping it opens Messages.
  5. Today: today's lessons in order. The ones that are done show who came, the one that's running says "Live", and the next one says "Next" with the time left, like "in 45 minutes". Tap any lesson to open its class.
The lower part of Home
Today, with attendance in the last 5 lessons below it
  1. Attendance, last 5 lessons: one bar per lesson. Tap the class name above it to pick another class.
  2. Who missed the last lesson: like "3 missed the last English lesson", with a "Remind them" button that gets a message ready for them. See Class attendance and absences.
  3. The subscription line: during the trial, or when your plan is about to end, you'll see a line like "Free trial · 5 days left." with a "Subscription" button next to it.
  4. Shortcuts: "New class", "Send links" and "Google Calendar".

Before your first class

If you haven't created any classes yet, Home says "Let's make your first class" and has one big button: "Create your first class". Below it are your first 3 steps to your first lesson.

On the website: your Account page

Sign in on hessety.com and click "Account" at the top. On a computer, the page has two columns:

The Account page on the website
Your classes in the wide column, your subscription and settings on the side

The wide column:

  1. Notices, when something needs you: confirming your email, a transfer screenshot you haven't uploaded yet, or a subscription that's about to end. Each notice comes with the button that sorts it out.
  2. Your schedule: the next lesson for each class. The nearest one says "Your next lesson" with "Start lesson" next to it. If a lesson is running: "Live" and "Back to lesson".
  3. Start here (for new teachers): 3 steps to your first lesson, with a button next to the step you're on.
  4. My classes: a card for each class with its class code, the students and their links, the schedule and attendance. At the end there's a New class card.

The narrow column:

  • Your subscription: your plan, when it runs until, the time you have left, a "Choose a plan" or "Renew or change plan" button, and My payments.
  • Teach from the browser or the app: with links to download the app.
  • Google Calendar: all your lessons in your calendar.
  • Your details: your name, phone number and email, with "Edit your name or phone" and "Change password".
  • Settings: language, notifications, the help center, "Sign out", "Sign out of other devices" and "Delete my account".

At the top of the page, next to "Account", are the Messages icon and the Notifications icon.

On a phone, the Account page is the same, just with the two columns one under the other, and the site's links are inside the menu button at the top.

On Windows

It's the same app, but the tabs are down the side, and Home has two columns: your next lesson and today's lessons on one side, and the rest on the other.
