Class code and permanent links

The difference between a student's personal link and the class code, and when to use each one.

There are two ways to join a lesson:

Every student in the class has a link with their name, like hessety.com/j/…. They open it and join right away without typing anything, and their name shows up correctly in your attendance.

Use it with your regular students.

Class code

Every class has a 6-character code made of letters and numbers, like 7KQ-29M. You'll find it at the top of the class page, with a copy button next to it.

A student who has the code:

  1. Opens hessety.com/j, or opens the app and chooses "I'm a student".
  2. Types the code and their name.
  3. Presses "Join lesson".

The code is handy for a new student you haven't added yet, or for a trial lesson. Anyone who joins with the code joins as a guest, and the number of guests in a lesson is limited so they don't crowd out your students.

Security

  • If a stranger gets in, remove them from the lesson using the Students list. Someone you remove can't come back to the same lesson.
  • Once all your students have joined, lock the lesson door so nobody new can get in.
