Teachers
Teachers can give their lessons straight from the browser, with nothing to install (see Teach from the browser), or from the Hessety app:
- Windows 10 or 11: click Windows in the "Get Hessety" section on the home page, and run the file that downloads (hessety-setup.exe). Installing doesn't need admin rights, and it adds a "Hessety" shortcut to your desktop.
- Android 7 or newer: tap Android in the same section to open Hessety's page on Google Play. If it says "Coming soon" next to it, the app is still being reviewed by Google, and you can use Windows or the browser until it's out.
After installing, open the app, choose "I'm a teacher", and sign in with the same account you use on the website.
If Windows says "Windows protected your PC"
This message appears for new programs that Windows doesn't know yet. Click More info and then Run anyway, and the installation will carry on as normal.
On a computer, you can share your screen and use the whiteboard comfortably. On your phone, you can teach from anywhere.
Students
Students don't need to download anything:
- They open the link you sent them on any phone or computer, and the lesson opens in the browser.
- If they'd like the app, they can download Hessety for Android or Windows and choose "I'm a student".
Students with an iPhone or iPad join from the browser (Safari) using the same link.
Updates
When a newer version is out, the app tells you "Update available". Update to get the latest improvements. If your version is very old, the app will ask you to update before you can continue.
